This is the most difficult thing I have yet written. Putting myself out there on a topic that is taboo – menopause. Since writing this piece, I have found out so much more about menopause and the struggles women suffer. It is a health issue that affects all of us eventually (some are lucky enough not to struggle); an Auckland friend whose GP would not prescribe HRT and referred her to a specialist at $500 a pop; a woman who hasn’t told her husband she is menopausal because she is so ashamed and doesn’t want him to think she is old and past it. But we are rocking on, without our childbearing hormones! I’m not saying HRT is for everyone and I certainly don’t want people to think I’ve been seduced by a pharmaceutical company. Just to know that if you’re having a hard time, though, there is a solution. Thanks for reading.
